Today I received a bouquet of…Strawberries!

Strawberries are the only fruit that have seeds on their outer skin.

On average, one medium-sized strawberry has approximately 200 seeds.

Only eight strawberries contain approximately 140 percent of the amount of vitamin C recommended for an adult for one day.

Superstitious country folk in Bavaria still tie a basket of strawberries to their cattle’s horns as an offering to the elves.  They still believe that elves love strawberries and will take the strawberries as a gift and bless the cattle to produce an abundance of milk in return.

The first fruit that ripens in the spring are strawberries.

One of the more useful strawberry facts is that honey combined with strawberry juice can reduce sunburn and inflammation if rubbed into the skin.

The very first garden strawberry was bred in 1740 in Brittany, France.

According to folk lore, if a person cuts a strawberry in half to share, the two people consuming it together will fall in love.

Belgium houses a museum for strawberries.

Strawberries can be grown virtually anywhere in the world that has partially sandy soil and plenty of sunshine.  They can even be grown in a pot and produce fruit.
